Cabo San Lucas is famous for its world-class golf courses. Swiftly becoming one of the top golf destinations on the planet, people flock from across the globe for affordable rounds and legendary courses in one of the world’s most beautiful locations.

But because there are almost 20 golf courses in and around Cabo San Lucas, it’s hard to know which ones are the best. So in this guide, we’ve brought you our four favorite golf courses in Cabo San Lucas

Palmilla Golf Club

Designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus, this is one of the most famous golf courses in the area. It’s a 20-minute drive east of Cabo San Lucas.

Here, there are three fantastic 9-hole courses. They offer views of mountains, cacti, dunes, sands, shores, deserts, old homes and plenty more. It’s like good ol’ Jack took all the best bits of Cabo and stuffed them into one incredible area.

The most famous feature at Palmilla is the 600-foot ascent over the first 6 holes of the Ocean Course. The third hole of the Mountain Course, known as one of the greatest par fours in the world, leads you uphill for almost 500 yards.

Diamante

Home to four courses, this place is truly luxurious. Lying alongside 1.5 miles of coastline, studded with dunes, and looking more like a national park than a golf club, it’s beautiful.

But even more impressive than all of that, The Dunes Course here was designed by Davis Love III, while the El Cardonal Course was designed by Tiger Woods. In 2016, The Dunes was rated as the best golf course in Mexico by Golf Digest.

To visit Diamante, you usually need to be a member, or be friends with a member. But sometimes, special guest passes are on offer. So if you can get in here, you absolutely should.

Diamante is right beside the Hard Rock resort in Cabo San Lucas, one of the city’s most prestigious and attractive all-inclusive hotels. On our Cabo trips, we always stay at the Hard Rock. So if you want close-by access to the Diamante, book a trip with us!

Cabo Real

Sandwiched between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, Cabo Real is a target-style course, renowned as one of the toughest in the area. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., this place hosts lots of prestigious tournaments, including two PGA Senior Slams.

All 18 holes offer various challenges—you get freeform bunkers, elevated greens, narrow canyons and sudden elevations. And from some holes and greens, you get excellent ocean views!

Cabo Del Sol Desert Course

Around 7 miles east of Cabo San Lucas is Cabo Del Sol, a golf club with two great courses.

One of them (and our favorite of the two!) is the Desert Course, designed by golfer-turned-architect Tom Weiskopf. Challenging and attractive, the course features canyons, desert, lakes, arroyos, waterfalls, and tricky elevation changes. Dramatic and difficult, the 18 holes offer a huge amount of variation along with incredible seaside panoramas.

The other onsite course was designed by Jack Nicklaus. But sadly, that one’s private.
