Cabo San Lucas is known for its excellent climate. During most times of the year, the city offers warm days, temperate nights, swimmable seas, and very little rain.
But each month isn’t identical, and every season brings slightly different types of weather. So in this speedy guide, we’ve brought you details on what each season offers, and when’s the best time to visit Cabo San Lucas.
Cabo San Lucas in Summer (June-August)
This is the warmest period in Cabo San Lucas, but it’s also the rainiest period.
Because of that, it’s not the perfect time to visit. Temperatures are very high (often reaching lofty heights of a sweltering 37°C! [98°F]), and rainfall can be a little disruptive. During June and July, there’s often around 107mm of rain per month, while August usually has around 75mm of rain. Those numbers might mean nothing to you, but what they mean is… lots and lots of rain!
This isn’t the best time to visit Cabo. But that said, it’s definitely better than never visiting at all! So if summer is the only time you can get to Cabo San Lucas, you absolutely should.
Cabo San Lucas in Fall (September-November)
Temperatures remain very high, but the rainfall starts to drop off a little. By November, there’s not much rainfall at all, so this is when peak season begins.
In September, average temperatures sit at around 30°C (85°F), while rainfall is around 65mm. In October, you can expect average temperatures of around 28°C (82°F) and rainfall of approximately 43mm. In November, when things start getting way better, average temperatures sit at 24°C (75°F), while rainfall drops to a measly 8mm.
Cabo San Lucas in Winter (December-February)
During winter, the high season really kicks into full force. Although the busy period begins in November, the most tourist-heavy months are December through to February.
This period is so popular because temperatures are pleasant and high without being overbearing, and rainfall is ridiculously low.
Average temperatures in winter are always around 20°C (68°F), with highs of between 26°C (79°F) and 29°C (84°F). Rainfall sits at around 5mm per month. So, in short, this is when Cabo San Lucas’ weather is at its absolute best!
Because of this great weather, winter is the best time for exploring outdoor adventures in Cabo. If you want to swim, cycle, hike or play golf (or enjoy one of our incredible ATV tours or catamaran excursions!), now’s the time to do it without getting all hot and sweaty.
Even better, there’s a very good chance of seeing Cabo’s famous whales and sharks in winter. And even humpback whale babies!
Cabo San Lucas in Spring (March-May)
During this period, temperatures begin to rise a little, but rainfall stays pretty low.
Average temperatures in March sit at 21°C (70°F), while average rainfall is usually 7mm. In April, you can expect average temperatures of 24°C (75°F) and rainfall of 4mm. In May, temperatures sit around 26°C (79°F), with rainfall around 8mm.
Crowd-shy tourists often consider visiting Cabo during this time of year. But in our opinion, Cabo is best enjoyed with all the crowds, when the bars, beaches, and clubs bustle with action and energy. Who wants to visit a place with no atmosphere?
